The IPv6: Impact on Cable Networks hands-on course provides all the details on the capabilities of IPv6 and DOCSIS® 3.0, as well as the roles they play in the cable network management process, the rollout aspects of IPv6 implementation, DOCSIS 3.0 integration, configuration, provisioning and troubleshooting the network components, and the impact on the cable network.
 
Course goals also include an in-depth discussion surrounding how to operate IPv6 in tandem with IPv4. The operational issues involved in configuring and managing parallel IP addressing systems are thoroughly covered in this course. The breadth and depth of the course will be beneficial for those responsible for integrating the IPv6 protocol.

Finally, participants will learn transitioning options such as: 6RD, native dual stack, DS-lite, NAT444, tunneling, etc. Other topics include IPSec, header extensions, DHCP/DNSv6, ICMPv6, IPv6 multicasting and the features of the IPv6 header.

Requirements for Successful Course Completion:

  • Completion of course assessments with a passing grade of 80%
  • Final exam with a passing grade of 80%
  • Completion of Hands-on Lab activities

Target Audience

Those involved in engineering the adoption of IPv6, including network planners designing the deployment of IPv6 devices such as DOCSIS cable modems in the network, network operations managers and data center personnel, as well as systems engineering staff responsible for preparing the multitude of systems to support IPv6. Fundamental IP and network knowledge would be helpful to ensure students’ success in the IPv6 course.
